Waterfall maxed out

The waterfall doesn't really look like this! Sure it is a waterfall at Edith Falls near Katehrine and I did take it in April 2008, but in post-processing I sharpened the image and then changed the colour. Hope you like the result!

Bush Amazon

Striding through the bush at Edith Falls near Katherine in the Northern Territory. This particualr walk was 4 km return over pretty rugged terrain and it was 33 degrees centigrade in the shade. Just another opportunity to have a swim in a secluded waterfall for some! Photo taken in March 2008.

Beautiful bush

Photographing the Australian bush, especially its trees, in such a way that its scale and grandeur is adequately captured is never easy. The angle of this tree assists as it leads from the top left of the frame to the bottom right or vice versa depending where you looked first. The sky was a brilliant blue. Taken at at Edith Falls just north of Katherine in the Northern Territory in April 2008.

Reflective reflections

This lovely creek is at Edith Falls just north of Katherine in the Northern Territory. Beautiful and peaceful, with lovely reflections and look how clear the water is. Taken at the end of April 2008 just after the wet season had finished.

Waterfall wonderland

A closer shot of the top waterfall from the previous photo of the beautiful waterfalls cascading into a gorge at Edith Falls near Katherine in the Northern Territory. Stunning. The light was just right. I tried processing it in black and white but I think a bit of colour actually looks better. Taken in April 2008.

Edith Falls

A couple of beautiful waterfalls cascading into a gorge at Edith Falls near Katherine in the Northern Territory. Stunning. So powerful and majestic. I love waterfalls. The people in the centre of the picture give some idea of the size of the waterfalls. Taken in April 2008 from the Bemang lookout.

Spear grass

The spear grass in the top end is quite amazing. It can quickly grow up to 12 feet high in the wet and then it dries out, starts falling over, turns straw coloured and is soon burnt off by the local inhabitants setting fire to it. It looks very beautiful, like sun-ripened corn. Taken at at Edith Falls just north of Katherine in the Northern Territory in April 2008.

Paperbark swamp

A classic "top end" landscape scene, paperback trees in a billabong fringed with Pandanus. You would never see this in southern Australia. You would only see this landscape in the tropics of north Australia. the reflection sets composition off nicely. Wonderful waterfall
