These two photos were taken at the Maningrida Airport, an Aboriginal Community, in Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. The first photo is a sign informing that it is Aboriginal land and that a permit is required. The second sign is a new sign on the roof of the airport building. It spells out that alcohol is not allowed in the community. Photos taken in June 2008

Dry zone

I photographed this sign in October 2008 at the entrance to the Aboriginal community of Gapuwiyak. It was erected in 1992, and proclaims that the community does not allow alcohol or Kava to be consumed there.
