Community road

A car on the barge landing road, near Gapuwiyak, photographed in November 2008. I like the sense of space and openness and the red earth.

Harsh country

This photo was taken at the Pine Creek lookout, about 200 km south of Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory, overlooking the goldmine that sustains this town. Taken in April 2008, it illustrates just how harsh and forbidding this landscape is, albeit very beautiful as well. The spear grass has died off and has turned straw-coloured amongst the ever present red dirt, dust and Eucalypt trees.
