Hotel lobby in Sapa

Our hotel foyer in Sapa, Vietnam in January 2012. Outside are locals (the ones with baskets) waiting to harass anyone who goes out. It was the North Star hotel by the lake.

Interior design

I like this picture. It was taken in an exclusive hotel in Saigon (I can't remember which one). It is in the lobby and the restaurant is on the right with a glass wall and a whine rack separating the two. I took this shot hand held at 48 mm, ISO 400 at 1/4 of a second, holding my breath and trying to stay as still as possible. Fortunately I have a vibration reduction lens so it worked. The woman walking into the frame when I took it adds to the image and a bit of post-processing sharpening brought it all together. Taken in March 2008.
