Tree across the road in Kakadu

A tree across the road on the way to Barramundi Gorge (Maguk) in Kakadu National Park. Everything looks burnt because the rangers have burnt that part of the park, something that is done every year after the wet season to reduce the risk of severe bush fires. A beautiful part of the world. Photo taken in June 2008.

Beautiful paperbark trees

Beautiful and very tall paperbark trees (Melaleuca argentea) in a monsoonal forest on the walk to Barramundi Falls in Kakadu National Park in June 2008.

Barramundi Falls (Maguk), Kakadu National Park

The top photo is an unusual perspective of a waterfall, taken from the top of Barramundi Falls in Kakadu National Park in June 2008 looking down into the spectacular plunge pool. The second photo is of the sun reflecting on the water in the pool above the waterfall. An isolated and infrequently visited area, but well worth the effort!
