Bats the movie

Bats streaming out of their cave at sunset in Ratchaburi Province outside Bangkok in October 2008. One of the more extraordinary sites I have ever seen. There are an estimated 10 million of them and they take half an hour to fly out.

This video clip was taken on the Central Arnhem Road in northern Australia in December 2008. So much rain. Not much fun.

Free the animals!

These photos were taken at an anti-vivisection demonstration by Animal Liberation Victoria in Flinders Street, Melbourne, in July 2007 outside the hotel where I was staying. They were very noisy (see the video) and had sprayed graffiti on nearby buildings as well! Nonetheless, I support their campaign against animal cruelty.

Storm waves at Coogee Beach in Sydney

Huge waves and swells at Giles Bath on the northern side of Coogee Beach in Sydney in June 2008. It is hard to get a perspective on just how big the waves were, but trust me, they were massive! I was standing about 8 meters above where the waves were breaking. In the background is Wedding cake Island. The photo below, taken in June 2007, gives some perspective on how big the rocks are and how big the waves really are. Look closely or click on the image and you can see a boy crouching behind one of the rocks as the waves hit.
