View atop Urambi Hill

Urambi Hill, Canberra, in October 2009. The purple patches on the eastern side are Paterson's curse and the farm dam is to the west. It is the greenest I have ever seen it.

Harsh country

This photo was taken at the Pine Creek lookout, about 200 km south of Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory, overlooking the goldmine that sustains this town. Taken in April 2008, it illustrates just how harsh and forbidding this landscape is, albeit very beautiful as well. The spear grass has died off and has turned straw-coloured amongst the ever present red dirt, dust and Eucalypt trees.
