A huge road train (54 wheels) taken on the Stuart Highway outside Darwin, Northern Territory, in June 2009. It was huge. had 3 separate trailers and a prime mover.

Road train heaven

The Northern Territory is known for its road trains, multi-trailer behemoths that I never tire of, no matter how many I see. We came across this one outside Katherine on the Stuart Highway, and no way where we waiting two km for the overtaking lane. 53.5 meters long, 70 wheels and 4 trailers. They travel fast, at 130 km on the bitumen, so getting past them on a two lane road means having your foot flat on the accelerator and your heart in your mouth. Photos taken in June 2008.
