The superb Red-tailed Black Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus banksii). The male has the red feathers. Stunning birds, but extremely difficult to approach and so hard to get a decent photo even though they are very large birds (I used a 450mm telephoto lens). These birds are part of a flock living in the swamp behind our house at Galiwinku on Elcho Island in the Northern Territory. I took these photos in June 2008
