This photo was taken at My Son in Central Vietnam. It is a world heritage area being the site of the main ruins of the Cham civilization. It was also the scene of bitter fighting in the Vietnam war and visitors are driven to the ruins from the entrance to the site in old American jeeps. This coupled with a tourist wearing a Vietnamese army type cap made for a pretty surreal experience. Photographed in March 2008.

GI Flashback
