I wonder if a hand-held light meter would be useful...? I vaguely remember using one of these in a photography class 20 years ago... if only I could remember how it worked!
Maybe, although I seem to have nailed this one ok. I just play around with various metering modes (usually centre-weighted) or else meter where I think it will work best adn then recompose!
